Privacy policy

Wafflet has no account, no analytics and no advertising. Your budget and your expenses are stored on your device, and we never receive them.

Effective 7 October 2026

What stays on your device

Everything you enter in Wafflet is saved in the app's own storage on your device: your budget plan, each expense with its amount, category, note and date, your home currency and your settings. Your XP, level, streak and badges are not stored at all. They are worked out from your plan and expenses each time they are shown.

We run no server that receives this information, so we cannot see it, share it, sell it or recover it. If you back up your device, for example with iCloud Backup, the app's data is included in that backup under Apple's terms and your own Apple Account.

The one network request

When you log an expense in a currency other than your home currency, Wafflet downloads a public table of reference exchange rates for that day. It asks Frankfurter (api.frankfurter.dev), which publishes European Central Bank rates, and falls back to an open currency dataset served from cdn.jsdelivr.net for currencies the central bank does not publish.

The request contains a date and, for the fallback, a currency code. It never contains an amount, a note, a category or anything that identifies you. As with any internet request, those services can see the IP address the request came from, and they handle it under their own policies. Rates are cached on your device, so a day's table is downloaded once. If you only ever use your home currency, the app makes no network requests of its own.

Widgets and Apple Watch

To show today's quest in a widget or on your watch, the app writes a small summary (your limit, what you have spent today, your streak, your home currency, your most repeated expenses and whether you own Plus) to storage shared with its own widgets, and sends the same summary to your paired Apple Watch. Expenses you log on the watch are sent back to your iPhone. This happens between your own devices and does not pass through a server of ours.

Notifications

Reminders are local notifications, scheduled on your device from your own data. Wafflet does not use push notifications for reminders and holds no notification token for you. You can turn reminders off in the app or in Settings at any time.

Purchases

Wafflet Plus is a subscription bought through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment, and we never see your name, your card or your Apple Account. The app checks with Apple, on your device, whether a subscription is active. Apple may give us sales totals and, if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, anonymous usage and crash statistics.

What Wafflet does not do

  • It does not ask you to create an account or give an email address.
  • It does not connect to your bank or cards.
  • It contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code from us or any third party.
  • It does not use your location. A local currency suggestion comes from your time zone setting.
  • It does not read your contacts, calendar, photo library, microphone or health data.

Deleting your data

You can delete any expense inside the app. Deleting Wafflet from your device removes everything it stored there. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.

Children

Wafflet is not directed at children, and it collects no personal information from anyone, whatever their age.

This website

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no fonts or scripts from third parties. The company that hosts it may keep standard server logs, such as IP address and time of request, for security and reliability.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Wafflet handles data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date above will change.
